Miranda,
I'm really enjoying your blog - the writing is excellent. Found the link to it from here: http://www.expatinterviews.com/england/miranda-ward.html

Anyhow, as I was reading through some of them, I really felt as though I opened up a random page of some good novel, and consequently thought to myself that I'd probably enjoy a book by you. And then what do you know, I read this entry :) Best of luck on whatever it is that comes out of the mixture of your ideas, talents, skills, knowledge, and the influence of the pub ;)

With that said, I have to disagree with you the the election of Obama has anything to do with intellectual expansion. Intellectual expansion is understanding that real positive "change" does not come from an expanded more intrusive government, nor from speeches that hit emotional chords.

Well, if your book is as well-written as this post, you'll be fine. I snared my agent by - quite literally - grabbing him on the first page. WIth so many ms coming in a week you have to stand out from the crowd so I gave my name an odd spelling, got a celebrity endorsement and wrote the very very best piece of prose I could for Page 1. It worked for me. Passion, thought, honesty. They shine through your writing and that will catch someone's eye. Good luck with it! x
